Man arrested following report of burglary and serious sexual assault in Truro

Police investigating reports of a serious sexual assault and burglary in Truro have made an arrest.

Officers issued an appeal following the incident, reported to have happened on Sunday (18th July).

They are still urging anyone who saw something between midnight and the early hours to come forward.

Devon and Cornwall Police say the victim is being supported by specially-trained officers.

A 48-year-old local man was taken into custody on Monday (19th July)

Police said: "Police have arrested a man in connection to reports of a burglary and sexual assault in Truro.

"The incident is reported to have taken place in the early hours of Sunday 18th July.

"Following initial enquiries and information received from the public following an appeal, a man was arrested earlier this afternoon.

"A 48-year-old man from Truro has been arrested in connection to this incident and remains in police custody at this time.

"The victim is being supported by specially-trained officers.

"Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses and ask anyone with information to contact officers on 101 quoting CR/060422/21.
