Armed police response at two separate incidents in Cornwall

Units were sent to Newquay and a village near Truro

A man armed with a knife has been arrested in Newquay.

The 20 year old was detained on suspicion of affray, criminal damage, and possession of a bladed article.

Devon & Cornwall Police were called to the Narrowcliffe area at around midday on Thursday 9 September. Officers remain at the scene

"We were called with reports of a man in possession of a suspected knife in the Narrowcliff area of Newquay at around noon today Thursday 9 September. It was further reported a vehicle had been damaged.

"Officers, including armed units, attended the scene and a 20-year-old local man was detained.

"He has been arrested on suspicion of affray, criminal damage and possession of a bladed article and is in police custody. Police remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing."

Elsewhere, a 32 year old man was arrested on suspicion of assault, threats to cause criminal damage, and threats to kill in Probus.

Officers including armed units attended the scene at around 10.10am on Thursday 9 September.

A Devon & Cornwall Police presence remains at the address in the Parkengear Vean area of the village.

"We received reports of threats being made at an address in the Parkengear Vean area of Probus at around 10.10am today Thursday 9 September.

"Officers, including armed units, attended the incident and a 32-year-old man was detained at the scene.

"He has been arrested on suspicion of assault, threats to cause criminal damage, and threats to kill and is in police custody.

"Police remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing."
