UPDATE: A man's body has been discovered in a car found at the bottom of cliffs in west Cornwall and the family of missing Richard Mockford have been informed.

Devon & Cornwall Police have issued an urgent appeal to trace a missing man, believed to be in the Penzance area.

Officers say they are growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of Richard Mockford.

The 60-year-old is described as slim, clean-shaven and having short blonde hair.

Anyone who has seen him within the last 24 hours is being urged to contact police, by calling 999 straight away.

A police spokesperson said: "Police are appealing to the public to help them locate a missing person believed to be in the Penzance area.

"Police are growing increasingly concerned and wish to locate Richard Mockford.

"Richard is 60 years old, white male with short blonde hair, clean shaven and of slim build".

The statement continued: "If you have seen Richard within the past 24 hours, or know of his current whereabouts, please call police on 999 quoting long number 249 10th June".
