Although some have been loving the hot weather!

It's been a hot old week in Cornwall with the Met Office having issued its first ever amber warning for extreme heat.

Temperatures in some parts of the Duchy have hit a sweltering 32C and the weather alert remains in force until Thursday night.

Thousands of people have been flocking to the coast to cool off and enjoy the sunshine, including at Jubilee Pool in Penzance.

But what about the animals?

Warnings have been issued by emergency services to make sure we don't walk dogs on hot pavements or leave pets in hot cars.

But at Newquay Zoo some of the residents have been treated to some very special 'ice lollies' to help them cool down in the heat, including the monkeys.

Deputy Curator John Meek explained to us what they're made of.

"We get buckets or pots of water and mix in fruit and nuts and seeds and things like that, then freeze it overnight.

"The animals then have to sit and work at breaking the ice or licking it until it defrosts to get the goodies out."

But some of the animals are loving the tropical weather.

"The tortoises are out sunbathing in the sunshine, and the African animals on the African plane really enjoy the sunshine, obviously they have shade they can get into but you will see them out in the sun all day long, they like to lie in the sun all day which I guess we all like to do."
