'Alternative G7 meeting' to look at co-creating Cornwall's future
A virtual event is being held for those in the voluntary sector
A so-called 'alternative G7 meeting' is being held to help co-create Cornwall's future.
The Cornwall Voluntary Sector Forum (VSF) is hosting a virtual event for those in the sector.
Bosses say the coronavirus pandemic has highlighted what an 'indispensable asset' the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector is to our society.
"Their talents, experience and timely support has equipped individuals and whole communities to overcome much adversity during this crisis.
"Despite one of its most challenging years yet, Cornwall VSF has also played its part through developing and maintaining strategic, thematic and local alliances to help create better conditions for mutuality, altruism and collaboration to thrive."

What will the day include?
The virtual event is taking place on the 11th June, at the same time the G7 summit takes place in Carbis Bay.
It will include workshops, live interviews, keynote speeches with problem-solving panels, and stories of grassroots organisations.
The day will culminate in a pledge to work collaboratively for a future 'all of Cornwall can thrive in'.
Bosses say signing up to this event will allow volunteers and organisations to shape it and give permission to receive the e-brochure souvenir, packed with ideas, talks panels and pledges to help co-create Cornwall's future.
Confirmed speakers include Sir Michael Marmot on The Health Gap, followed by Caroline Dann from Traveller Space, speaking about how to provide meaningful outreach working with minority communities. She will give a recent example of the coordination and delivery of multi agency work, which was co-created with families.
Fresh from the Youth 7 Summit in May, Emily Stevenson from Beach Guardian will be on a panel with Tom Burke CBE to answer questions about local impact on the environment. Emily will lead a workshop to inspire young people to pledge to Clean up Cornwall.
“Co-creating Cornwall’s Future will provide a stage for the Duchy to showcase the unparalleled opportunity that our local VCSE sector has to offer. This is an innovative and resilient sector, which harnesses the fantastic support of Cornish people.”
