Almost 200 new cases of coronavirus in Cornwall over the weekend
That takes the total of positive tests in the Duchy and Isles of Scilly to 12,982 since the start of the pandemic
The number of recorded coronavirus cases in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly increased by 195 over the weekend, official figures show.
Public Health England figures show that 12,982 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Monday (February 8) in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, up from 12,787 the same time on Friday.
The health body is now including Pillar 2 tests – those carried out by commercial partners – alongside Pillar 1 tests, which are analysed in NHS or PHE laboratories and which made up the first stage of the Government's mass testing programme.
The rate of infection in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly now stands at 2,270 cases per 100,000 people, far lower than the England average of 6,164.
Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 48,211 over the period to 3,959,784.
Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly's cases were among the 199,138 recorded across the South West, a figure which rose by 2,856 over the period.
Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.
