It's been a turbulent week for AFC St Austell after First Team Manager Adam Castlehouse tendered his resignation on Friday morning (14 November), citing personal reasons and ongoing challenges with player availability for travelling fixtures.

In a statement, the club expressed “sincere thanks” to Castlehouse for his hard work, professionalism and commitment throughout his tenure.

His contributions both on and off the pitch this season were highlighted as “greatly appreciated by everyone associated with the team.”

However, the difficulties around assembling a squad for away games, an issue Castlehouse raised in his resignation, continued into the weekend.

Despite attempts on Friday and again on Saturday morning, the club was unable to gather enough available players to fulfil the scheduled Jewson Western League fixture away to Clevedon.

With no workable alternative, the club confirmed it had been forced to make the “very difficult decision” to forfeit the match.

Officials apologised for the disappointment caused to supporters and thanked the league’s board for their understanding.

The club reiterated its commitment to fulfilling all remaining fixtures this season and confirmed that updates on the first-team coaching structure and upcoming matches will be provided in due course.

Meanwhile, the club extended its best wishes to Castlehouse as he moves on, thanking him for his service and dedication during his time in charge.
