Stretch of A39 closed in north Cornwall following serious crash

Drivers are being urged to avoid the area

A stretch of the A39 has been closed in north Cornwall following reports of a serious crash.

Emergency services are on the scene of the collision at Wainhouse Corner, not far from Bude.

It is not yet known if there are any serious injuries.

Traffic is said to be coping well but drivers are currently being urged to avoid the area.

Devon & Cornwall Police posted on Twitter: "Emergency services attending a report of a serious collision A39 Bude at Wainhouse Corner - the road is currently closed at this time, please avoid the area if at all possible."

Inrix Traffic and Travel says: "A39 in both directions closed due to accident between the B3263 (Crackington Haven turn off, Wainhouse Corner) and the B3262 (Hallworthy turn off, Otterham). Traffic is coping well.

"The road has been closed since 11:30."
