A30 stretch closed for two nights for roadworks
It affects travel between Chybucca and Boxheater this Thursday and Friday
The A30 road connecting Chybucca and Boxheater in Cornwall will be shut for two nights this week, as part of ongoing works to upgrade the road.
The road will be closed between the junction of Chiverton Cross and Boxheater between 8pm and 6am, this Thursday and Friday (29-30 June).
People travelling eastbound on the A30 during these times will be diverted at Trevalso, with westbound and eastbound traffic diverted via the A3075 and B3285.
National Highways says the closure is needed as part of ongoing works to upgrade the A-road:
"Contractors Costain are realigning the road layout there to take traffic off the existing A30 and onto a newly constructed section of carriageway, what will become the westbound section of the A30 dual carriageway", a spokesperson said.
"The A30 closure, about six miles in length between the junctions, will enable work to be carried out on the northern section of an underbridge at Trevalso, under the existing A30.
"We’re not expecting the overnight closures to have too much of an impact, and National Highways advises drivers to plan ahead and add a little extra time for their journeys."
Work will be carried overnight when traffic levels are lower to minimise disruption and motorists have been advised to plan ahead and allow a little extra time for their journey.
For landlocked residents whose only way out is onto the A30 and who need access during the night, a traffic safety control officer will be on hand to escort residents out of the closure area, and can be called on 07918 586974.
