A30 overnight closures delayed until tomorrow
National Highways are working to upgrade the road between Chiverton Cross and Carland Cross roundabouts

Overnight closures on the A30 from Chiverton Cross to the Boxheater junction will now start tomorrow (Tuesday 18).
They were due to get underway from tonight but due to the delayed reopening of the A3075, the overnight works have now been pushed back by a day.
The newly aligned A3075 was meant to open on Sunday (16 October), but National Highways says a "requirement to install temporary barriers to protect the workforce constructing the Cornish hedging along that section" means they had to delay its reopening to tomorrow.
As a result, the overnight closures on the A30 will start tomorrow night. These will take place between 8.00pm - 6.00am until Saturday 22 October.
During these overnight closures, eastbound traffic will be diverted via the reopened A3075 and the B3285 from Goonhavern to re-join the A30, with the westbound diversion in reverse.
The works taking place will involve removing kerbs and installing new surfacing at the Chiverton roundabout, realigning barriers and surfacing at the Chybucca junction and temporary roundabout, earthworks at Nanteague, drainage and telecoms work and preparatory work ahead of further realignment of the A30 in the new year.
National Highways say the A30 will also be closed overnight from Chiverton Cross to Carland Cross for five nights between Monday 7 November and Saturday 12 November with the A30 temporary realignment scheduled to take place within that week.
Neil Winter, Senior Project Manager for the scheme, said: "We are keeping disruption to an absolute minimum by carrying out the work overnight when traffic levels are lower.
"We understand roadworks can be frustrating, the closures are required to progress alignment of the new A30 route and we’ve communicated the traffic switch well in advance to local communities and ensuring access is maintained for residents and businesses.
"We thank people in advance for their co-operation and patience, and in the meantime we advise drivers to plan ahead and allow a little extra time for their journeys during this work."
