It has been revealed that 784 new coronavirus cases have been recorded in Cornwall in the past seven days.
261 of those were in the past 24 hours alone.
Official data shows the rate of infection in the Duchy currently stands at 96.2 per 100,000 people.
The latest R number for the healthcare region of South West is estimated at 1 to 1.2 with a daily infection growth rate range of +1% to +4% as of 24 December 2020.
It comes as NHS England's chief executive says frontline workers are "back in the eye of the storm" as cases of a new variant of coronavirus continue to rise.
There are now more Covid-19 patients in England's hospitals than the peak of the first wave in April.
The UK hit a new high for daily cases on Monday (28th December), with 41, 385 more people having Covid-19.
Sir Simon Stevens has used his New Year message to thank everyone in the health service for their efforts this year.
"Normally we would be celebrating, a lot of people are understandably feeling anxious, frustrated and tired. And now of course again we are back in the eye of the storm, with the second wave of coronavorus sweeping Europe and indeed this country.
"Sometimes the worst circumstances bring out the best in people, we have certainly seen that on the part of my colleagues across the health service, the fantastic intensive care nurses and doctors, the paramedics, the therapists, the porters and cleaners, the entire team across the National Health Service."
Sir Simon Stevens, NHS England Chief Executive
