32 patients with Covid-19 being treated in hospital in Cornwall

Over 50,000 people in the Duchy have now tested positive for the virus

Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust was caring for 30 coronavirus patients in hospital as of Tuesday, figures show.

NHS England data shows the number of people being treated in hospital for Covid-19 by 8am on October 12th was up from 23 on the same day the previous week.

The number of beds at Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust occupied by people who tested positive for Covid-19 decreased by 32% in the last four weeks – 28 days ago, there were 44.

Meanwhile the Cornwall Partnership Trust was caring for two coronavirus patients in hospital as of Tuesday.

NHS England data shows no people were being treated in hospital for Covid-19 at 8am on October 5th.

And there were two beds occupied by Covid-19 patients in the Trust four weeks ago.

Across England there were 5,213 people in hospital with Covid as of October 12, with 657 of them in mechanical ventilation beds.

The number of Covid-19 patients hospitalised nationally has decreased by 18% in the last four weeks, while the number on mechanical ventilators has decreased by 26%.

The figures also show that 23 new Covid patients were admitted to hospital in Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust in the week to October 10. This was down from 32 in the previous seven days.
