It has been revealed that 21 people have died on Cornwall and Devon's roads this summer.

Vision Zero South West says another 29 were critically injured between June and August.

The partnership is supporting #SafeSpeeds24 day on Wednesday, which aims to go 24 hours without a single road death in the UK.

Vision Zero has issued a series of tweets, saying: "We don't want to knock on any more doors to tell people a loved one is never coming home".

Earlier in the week, emergency services and other members of Vision Zero took part in a convoy along the M5, as part of Project EDWARD (Every Day Without A Road Death).

They were highlighting the resources needed to respond to crashes and incidents.

The event also saw the launch of a new scheme to give away 170 dashcams to local businesses and organisations, including South West Water and the RNLI.

It is part of Devon and Cornwall Police's Operation Snap, which encourages people to upload footage of dangerous driving.

Over 1,300 prosecutions have been made since the launch of OpSnap in 2019.

In the first six months of 2021, Devon and Cornwall Police received more than 700 dashcam submissions.
