New 20mph speed limit signs in a Cornish town have been vandalised.

Images shared online show speed limits signs, which were put up in the Pillmere estate in Saltash, covered in black spray paint.

It is thought to have happened only a few days after they were put up.

The signs are being introduced in many areas across Cornwall as part of Cornwall Council plans to introduce the new speed limit on 700 roads in the Duchy, which were previously 30mph.

The successful pilot scheme that has seen the changes already made in Falmouth, Penryn, and Camelford, resulting in a reduction to motorists' speeds.
