The Met Office has issued another severe weather warning for Cornwall for torrential rain.

The 18-hour alert comes into force at 3pm on Thursday 28th October and forecasters say there is the risk of flash flooding.

The warning covers half of the Duchy, for areas north of St Austell across to Padstow.

Forecasters say 50mm of rain could fall in some places, with high ground like Dartmoor seeing up to 80mm.

Drivers are being warned to take extra care, with surface water and spray expected to cause some disruption on the roads.

What can we expect?

The Met Office weather warning for heavy rain will be in force from 3pm on Thursday until 9am on Friday (29th October).

Forecasters say heavy rain could bring localised flooding and some disruption to travel and we can expect:

Spray and flooding on roads will make journey times longer

Bus and train services affected with journey times taking longer

A few homes and businesses flooded

The forecast states: "A band of rain will move east across southwest England later today and overnight, with further heavy rain affecting the west of the warning area into Friday morning.

"20-30 mm of rain falling widely, with 50 mm in places and as much as 80 mm over the southern slopes of Dartmoor".
