A 15-year-old boy has been arrested after a serious assault in St Austell.

Police say a man suffered a stab wound to his chest after an 'altercation' on North Street on Saturday evening.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene and the 20-year-old victim remains in a stable condition in hospital.

A 15-year-old boy from the town was arrested and bailed pending further enquiries.

"Police are investigating a serious assault on a man in St Austell on Saturday 10 October.

"Officers and paramedics were called around 6.50pm after the man was located injured in North Street.

"He had sustained a stab wound to his chest after an altercation in the street.

"The 20-year-old victim from St Austell was treated at the scene and taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

"A 15-year-old boy from St Austell has been arrested on suspicion of assault GBH with intent. He has been released on bail until 6th November pending further enquiries."
