13 patients with coronavirus being cared for in Cornish hospitals

That is according to figures as of Tuesday

Official figures have confirmed 13 Covid patients were being cared for in Cornish hospitals as of Tuesday.

Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust was caring for 11 coronavirus patients.

NHS England data shows the number of people being treated in hospital for Covid-19 by 8am on March 23rd was up from 10 on the same day the previous week.

The number of beds at Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust occupied by people who tested positive for Covid-19 decreased by 68% in the last four weeks – 28 days ago, there were 34.

The figures also show that 14 new Covid patients were admitted to hospital in Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust in the week to March 21. This was the same number as in the previous seven days.

Meanwhile the Cornwall Partnership Trust was caring for two coronavirus patients in hospital as of Tuesday.

NHS England data shows the number of people being treated in hospital for Covid-19 by 8am on March 23 was down from seven on the same day the previous week.

The number of beds at Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust occupied by people who tested positive for Covid-19 decreased by 88% in the last four weeks – 28 days ago, there were 16.

The figures also show that no new Covid patients were admitted to hospital in Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust in the week to March 21. This was down from two in the previous seven days.

Across England there were 4,245 people in hospital with Covid as of March 23, with 647 of them in mechanical ventilation beds.

The number of Covid-19 patients hospitalised nationally has decreased by 69% in the last four weeks, while the number on mechanical ventilators has decreased by 67%.
