Lee Wells, who runs The Deck in Perranporth has pledged he will show the World Cup games in his pub for the sake of his customers but morally does not want to make any money from screening them
In a post on Facebook, Lee Wells said: "I will be showing the World Cup at The Deck as I do not want to punish my customers or staff. But the press conference from the FIFA president this morning November 19 is the final straw.
"I will not be promoting it and any profits made will go to Cornwall Pride. If you watch it at The Deck, expect to see Rainbow Flags next to England Flags"
"I am not judging England, England fans, or even Qatar. I am judging FIFA for their corrupt and disgusting decisions and opinions. They are a disgrace"
"I will not be promoting it and any profits made will go to Cornwall Pride. If you watch it at The Deck, expect to see Rainbow Flags next to England Flags".
Lee said as a gay man himself he just didn't feel that he could promote such an event and certainly couldn’t profit from it
"I’d also like to add that I have no issues with people watching the World Cup now that England and Wales are there! The fans should not be punished!"
"We should use the opportunity to highlight the corruption within FIFA that led to these games and the attitude of its president who is about to be re-elected unopposed rather than fired for his comments"
Lee said "I did consider a full boycott but as I said, why punish everyone? Many of my customers live alone and would like to watch it with other people"
"With UEFA and the Fa now capitulating as there will be consequences for wearing an armband, I’m struggling to show it at all and only will for the reasons above. I would rather boycott altogether but don’t want to push my personal beliefs too far! And showing it raises money and awareness"
"If Harry Kane, those above him and all concerned won’t take a yellow card (which an England player would get for taking his shirt off after scoring a goal!) then they are all morally bankrupt in my view and I don’t care if we win or lose anymore, coming from a passionate England and football fan".
