Cambs drink driver three times over the limit banned from driving
She was also found to be driving without insurance
A woman from Cambridge who took a car without permission before crashing it while more than three times over the drink drive limit has been banned from driving.
Police were called just after 7.30am on 9 June reporting a silver Mini Cooper had driven into the back of a blue Nissan which then went into the back of a black Mercedes van parked along Eversden Road in Harlton.
Officers found the Mini on Fen Causeway just before 8am and arrested 20-year-old Alexa Adams after she blew 112 at the roadside, more than three times the legal limit of 35 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath.
They also discovered she only held a provisional licence, had taken the vehicle without consent and had no insurance.
Adams, of Rowlinson Way, went on to provide a reading of 97 in custody.
At Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on Friday (26 July), Adams was given a 12-month community order and disqualified from driving for four years and two months after previously pleading guilty to drink driving, aggravated vehicle taking and vehicle damage, failing to stop after a road accident, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance.
Sergeant Lauren Hart said: “Adams was in no fit state to be behind the wheel of a car, she wasn’t even wearing any shoes! It is lucky she didn’t cause harm to another road user or herself.
“This sentence demonstrates how seriously the courts take drink driving.”
