A main Cambridgeshire road has been closed after a crash this afternoon.

The section between the B1428 and the A428 at Eltisley has been temporarily closed.

A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: "We were called at 1.58pm to reports of a collision between two vehicles.

"As a result the road is closed from the B1428 roundabout to the A428 at Eltisley."

The driver of one of the vehicles, a woman, has been taken to hospital but the police spokesperson said she is not believed to be seriously hurt.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said they assessed two women involved in the crash.

“We were called at 1.55pm to a road traffic collision on the St Neots Road in Eltisley," said the spokesperson.

"An ambulance was sent to the scene and assessed two patients, both adult women, one of whom was transported to Hinchingbrooke Hospital for treatment for facial injuries.”

The road reopened at around 5:30pm.
