86 year old woman dies after crash near Horseheath

A woman has died following a collision between Linton and Haverhill on Friday evening (15 March).

Jean Merritt, 86, from Wheatsheaf Way, Linton, was driving a blue Daihatsu Sirion when she was involved in the collision with a blue Nissan Micra near Horseheath.

Emergency services attended and she was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge, where she died on Monday (18 March).

An 85-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the car, is being treated in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Police say Jean's family have expressed their extreme gratitude to the members of the public and the medical staff at Addenbrookes hospital who helped her after the collision.
