Permit to build £300m Wisbech incinerator approved
Campaigners have argued it would lead to increased pollution and traffic in the area

An environmental permit has been approved for a £300 million waste incinerator in Wisbech.
On Wednesday, the Environment Agency granted the permit for MVV Environment's incinerator located near the Norfolk border.
Local campaigners have voiced concerns, arguing that the incinerator would lead to increased pollution and traffic in the area.
MVV Environment plans to construct the waste-to-energy incinerator on the Algores Way industrial estate in the Fenland town.
The project received development consent in February, but in April, it was affected by a temporary ban on permits for new incinerator plants in England.
The ban was lifted on 24th May.
Managing Director of MVV Environment, Paul Carey, said: “We are pleased to see the environmental permit of our project granted, after completing the due process."
"We want to assure the local community in Wisbech that we will be a good neighbour as we build and operate the new facility, as we have already demonstrated at our facilities in Plymouth and Dundee.”
