A vehicle has crashed into a river in Cambridgeshire.

Emergency services were called to the Forty Foot Bank near Chatteris just before midday today (13 June).

A Cambridgeshire Constabulary spokesman said: “We were called at about 11.55am today (13 June) with reports a vehicle had gone into the river at Forty Foot Bank near Chatteris.

“Emergency services are at the scene and the road has been closed.

“Details of any injuries are unclear at this stage.”

This afternoon, police and paramedics remain at the scene while the vehicle is recovered from the river.

A Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Crews were called at 11.54am to a vehicle in water at Forty Foot Bank near Chatteris.

"Three crews and a rescue vehicle attended from Chatteris, March and Dogsthorpe and worked with other emergency services at the scene to recover the vehicle from the water.

"All crews had left the scene by 3.15pm."
