UK-first interactive exhibition opens at Peterborough Cathedral
'Monsters of the Sea' is open until 1 September
Sharks and giant squid tentacles are amongst the features of a UK-first exhibit at Peterborough Cathedral.
'Monsters of the Sea', which is run by World Touring Exhibitions, opened to the public on Monday.
The exhibit, which is open until 1 September, will showcase the variety of creatures past and present that live under water, as well as interactive displays and educational activities.
Giant squid tentacles have been seen on top of Peterborough Cathedral's Norman arch to mark the exhibit's arrival.
Speaking to Greatest Hits Radio, the exhibition's producer Corrando Conanici said he hoped the exhibition would show "entertainment and education go together."
"An exhibition like this means you can enjoy, and if you want to learn, at the same time."
"All of that in a phenomenal Cathedral like this one, one of the best in England."
He added that the "wow factor" of the interactive displays and the Cathedral setting added to the exhibition.
"There are so many things about sea monsters - dinosaurs of the sea as we say.
"They actually predated dinosaurs so there is really a lot to discover."
Mr Conanici hoped the exhibition would be the first of many:
"I am sure that people will see this exhibition and want to know more, and maybe know if we can bring it here again."
