A thug who launched an unprovoked attack on five people in Huntingdon Town Centre has been jailed for 15 months.

19-year-old Larry Rooney assaulted the group in St Benedict's Court on April 20th.

The group - three men and two women - didn't suffer serious injuries.

Rooney was arrested after getting into a taxi in High Street.

On Tuesday (5 November), at Cambridge Crown Court, Rooney, of Leicester Road, Market Harborough, was jailed for 15 months, having pleaded guilty to affray.

PC Luke Currie said: “We want to rid our town and city centres of this type of violence and the sentence reflects how seriously it is taken. Not only that but one punch to the head in the wrong place can have fatal consequences and devastate lives.”
