A 16-year-old boy has died after a collision on the A1M on Saturday, 24 August.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 pm near junction 14 on the southbound carriageway at Alconbury Hill, involving a black Peugeot 107 and a white Ford Transit 350 Leader minibus. The collision resulted in the closure of the road for several hours.

The teenager, identified as Isaac Nockels from Hillsborough, Sheffield, was a front-seat passenger in the Peugeot. He was transported to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, where he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, 25 August. The driver of the Peugeot, a 49-year-old woman, sustained minor injuries.

Seven occupants of the minibus were treated for minor injuries.

The driver, a 26-year-old man from South Yorkshire, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving. He has been released on bail until November.

Sergeant Mark Atkins of the Beds, Cambs and Herts Road Policing Unit issued an appeal for witnesses. “I would like to appeal to anyone who has dashcam footage of the collision, or who saw either vehicle in the moments leading up to it, to contact us,” he said. “Many people stopped to help but have not yet provided statements, therefore I would also like to appeal for them to get in touch with us.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact police online via webchat or the reporting forms, quoting incident 359 of 24 August or Operation Letter. Those without internet access should call 101.
