Man arrested after bomb disposal experts called to 'suspicious devices' in Littleport

A man's been arrested after bomb disposal experts were called to a house in Littleport this afternoon.

Police arrived at Parsons Lane at around 11am - where they discovered a number of suspicious devices.

Members of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team are still at the scene - evacuated residents have been taken to a nearby church for the timebeing.

A 49-year-old man from Littleport has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a shotgun without a licence and possession of prohibited weapons and ammunition.

He remains in custody.

A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: “At about 11am today, officers attended a property in Parson’s Lane, Littleport.

“Whilst at the property they discovered a number of suspicious devices.

“A cordon has been put in place as a precaution.”

The police spokesperson said it is believed to be an isolated incident.
