Suspected arson after building fire in Godmanchester

Police have launched an investigation after the fire

The hunt for suspected arsonists has begun after a building fire in Godmanchester.

Firefighters were called to Post Street at 4.50pm on Saturday, 13th May where they found a toilet block on fire.

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said one crew from Huntingdon and the north roaming fire engine were called.

“Firefighters used a hose reel to extinguish the fire, before returning to their station by 6pm,” the spokesperson said.

“The cause of the fire was believed to be deliberate.”

Cambridgeshire Police said an investigation is ongoing.

“A crime has been raised for arson; we have the location as the public toilets and no reports of anyone in the building at the time,” a spokesperson said.
