Two people are in hospital after emergency services were called to a serious road traffic collision on the B1040, Somersham Road in Woodhurst, near St Ives, yesterday (15 October).

The incident, which happened, at approximately 4pm, involved a silver Toyota Prius, driven by a 21-year-old man from Peterborough, and a red Nissan Note which left the road and ended up in a ditch. The driver of the Prius sustained serious injuries and was transported to Peterborough City Hospital for treatment.

The Nissan Note was being driven by a 70-year-old woman from Wisbech, who fortunately escaped with minor injuries. However, a male passenger in his 70s, also from Wisbech, was taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon with serious injuries, where he remains in a stable condition.

Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage related to the collision and the moments immediately before it. Anyone with information is asked to report it through the force website or by calling 101, quoting Operation Translate.
