The £5bn project would connect Oxford to Cambridge
A watchdog has opened an investigation into the East West Rail project between Oxford and Cambridge.
The National Audit Office is assessing the economic and strategic case for the £5 billion rail link.
The two cities would be connected via a new section of track between Bedford and Cambridge.
