We might not have had a White Christmas, but the Met Office are now warning that snow could be headed for much of the UK this weekend.

The East of England, South, and other areas of the UK are included in a yellow weather warning, due to come into effect from Saturday at 12pm.

The Met Office are warning of potential disruption, including to travel, as well as potential risks of powercuts.

Cambridgeshire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire, and parts of Norfolk and Suffolk are all included in the warning.

The Met Office also say some rural communities could become cut off, but that is "a slight chance".

The warning is likely to be in place until 9am on Monday (January 6), stretching across much of the UK including Wales, the North East and West, Midlands and touching upon Glasgow and Edinburgh.

It comes as some extreme rain has caused flooding further North overnight, with a yellow Ice Met Office warning indicating there could be some difficult travel conditions across Scotland, Northern Ireland and North Wales, stretching down to the Midlands for much of this morning.
