Peterborough United will be competing in the promotion play offs after a dramatic final day in the League One season.

Posh climbed into the top 6 after beating Barnsley 2-0 at Oakwell Stadium, as Derby County dropped points at Sheffield Wednesday.

The results meant Darren Ferguson's side leapfrogged the Rams to finish the season 6th, on 77 points.

Peterborough will now compete against Sheffield Wednesday, Barnsley and Bolton Wanderers in the play offs, after Ipswich Town and league champions Plymouth Argyle were automatically promoted to the Championship.

Next Friday they'll face Sheffield Wednesday in the First Leg of the play off semi-final at Weston Homes Stadium. The second leg will take place place the following Tuesday, and if all goes well, they could be travelling down to London for the final at Wembley on the 29th May.

A win in the final would see Posh promoted back to the Championship at the first time of asking, after dropping down to League One last season.
