A paedophile who sexually abused two young girls more than 30 years ago has been jailed for 22 years.

66-year-old Kevin Calderbank carried out the sexual assaults in Peterborough between 1985 and 1989.

His offending came to light in 2020 when the victims called police to report the abuse.

It means his victims are now in their 40s or 50s.

Calderbank- who's from British Road in Bristol- was jailed for 22 years on Tuesday (3rd December) at Cambridge Crown Court.

He was found guilty of seven counts of indecent assault on a girl under 14.

He's also been handed a sexual harm prevention order and placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.

Detective Constable Katie Ilett, who investigated, said: “Calderbank shamefully preyed on vulnerable children to sexually abuse them.

"His despicable behaviour caused suffering no child should have to endure.

"The victims have shown great courage and strength to come forward and support police with a prosecution.

Their bravery is admirable, and I hope this sentencing can bring them some sense of closure.”
