The family of a motorcyclist from Peterborough have released a tribute following his death in a road traffic collision.
Paul Istead, 53, of Victory Avenue, Peterborough, died on the A1198 near Papworth Everard on 19 June.
In a statement issued by his wife, Sarah, Mr Istead was remembered as a loving husband, father of four, and grandfather of seven.
Sarah Istead expressed her grief, saying, “He was a great friend and employee, sadly missed and loved by many, a quiet man, kind and would always help anyone in need.” She added, “We had 30 years of the deepest love together and the happiest marriage of 27 years. A true partnership.”
Reflecting on their life together, she continued, “Paul gave me the experience of being deeply understood, truly supported and utterly loved with that time. My world from now, may change year to year, my life, day to day but the love and the memory of him shall never pass away - and I shall carry that with me always.”
The collision occurred at approximately 4.50pm when Mr Istead was riding a black Kawasaki motorcycle and was involved in a collision with a silver Ford Focus, followed by a blue Mazda C-X 3. Mr Istead died at the scene, while another motorcyclist travelling with him on a blue Yamaha bike was unharmed.
The drivers of the Ford and the Mazda sustained no serious injuries, remained at the scene, and are cooperating with police as they conduct their investigation.
Authorities are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with dashcam footage or who may have seen the vehicles leading up to the incident is urged to contact the police online, quoting incident number 364 of 19 June, or call 101 to speak with a member of the Road Policing Unit.
