Peterborough City Council leader loses vote of no confidence
Conservative councillor Wayne Fitzgerald has been replaced by Peterborough First councillor Mohammed Farooq
Peterborough City Council leader, Conservative Wayne Fitzgerald, has been ousted after losing a vote of no confidence.
A full council meeting took place at the Town Hall, where 32 voted in favour of the motion and 20 against.
Mohammed Farooq, member of Peterborough First, has been voted in as the new council leader.
Peterborough First consists mainly of ex-Tory councillors.
Councillor Fitzgerald has previously said he expected to lose the vote.
