A bar in Peterborough city centre's had its Premises Licence suspended following incidents of 'serious violence.'

In the last month alone, there's been two instances, including one where a man was taken to hospital to be treated for a bleed on the brain.

Cambridgeshire Police made the application for a review of Bar 42's licence allowing the venue to serve alcohol to customers.

A licence review held yesterday saw Peterborough City Council's Licensing subcommittee members decide the Bar's premises licence would be suspended, until a full hearing at Peterborough Town Hall on August 20th.

Inspector Sam Tucker, from Peterborough’s Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We note the decision of the committee today and believe there was no option but to take this action following the recent serious incidents of violence.

“We have worked with the licence holder with advice being given to address issues, however we are still concerned for public safety within the venue.”

Bar 42 have the right to appeal the interim decision.
