Speedway: Peterborough Panthers beat Wolverhampton 54-36 in penultimate fixture at East of England Arena
They continue their winning streak
Peterborough Panthers keep up their end-of-season run beating Wolverhampton 54-36 in their penultimate fixture at the East of England Arena.
Wolves are play-off qualifiers.
The Crendon Panthers comfortably took all three points from the meeting at the East of England Arena, winning all but two of the races.
Manager Rob Lyon said: āObviously it was a bit of a dead rubber for Wolves, but we wanted to win and keep the run going.
āItās a strange situation because we couldnāt buy a win for the first two-thirds of the season, and now weāre winning in a canter, and you can see that with the team we have now.
āIāve tweaked the line-up around a few times which you can do when youāve got that sort of strength that you can just mess around with it a bit, and youāre not exposed in any areas.
āItās been a pleasure, very enjoyable, and Iāve lost count of the number of people whoāve said if weād had this team and the start of the season weād be in the play-offs ā but thatās speedway.ā
The club will close down at the end of the season because speedway is not part of the development plan which has been outlined for the East of England Arena.
The owners are planning a 1500-house development with associated āleisureā facilities added in.
The club told us their lease ends at the end of the current season, and they will be homeless and out of the sport as there is nowhere else for them to stage fixtures
