Over 70 firefighters tackled a large industrial blaze in Whittlesford overnight.

Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene on Mill Lane at around 1:45am this morning.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "Ten fire engines, two aerial appliances, two water carriers and the incident command vehicle attended the scene. At its height, 70 firefighters from Cambs, Suffolk, Herts and Essex were tackling the blaze."

This morning the incident has been scaled back and six fire engines are currently at the scene with the other specialist vehicles.

There are no reported casualties.

The fire is contained but still burning and will be for some hours.

A fire investigation into the cause will take place once the fire is fully out and it is safe to do so.

Residents in the local area, particularly those living south of Mill Lane, are advised to keep doors and windows closed due to the smoke coming from the site.
