Peterborough man jailed after leaving victim with bleed on brain

A man who attacked another man that left him him with a bleed on the brain, has been jailed for five years and three months.
Ashley Liddie, aged 39 and from Morton Close, Hampton Gardens, Peterborough, kicked the man in the head, knocking him unconscious.
The attack took place on Fletton High Street, Peterborough, on the evening of 17 April 2021.
Liddie was with a friend, Marc Parcel, 37.
They had both been at a function nearby Fletton Working Men's Club, Peterborough.
The victim left with a friend after a fight in the beer garden - Liddie and Parcell followed them.
Liddie and Parcell then attacked the two men and Liddie kicked one to the head.
The second victim managed to hide and was not seriously hurt.
After the first victim regained consciousness, he walked home but was taken to Peterborough City Hospital after falling ill the next morning.
He was diagnosed with bleeding on the brain.
Liddie and Parcel were both arrested after being identified on CCTV.
On Friday (14 April), Liddie has been jailed for five years and three months, at Peterborough Crown Court.
Parcell, from Green End Road, Sawtry, has been jailed for twelve weeks, to run concurrent to a separate sentence after pleading guilty to affray.
Detective Sergent Sarah Morgan said: “This was a disgraceful assault by Liddie and Parcell, which has left the victim with on-going memory issues.
“They should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves and I hope they reflect on their reckless actions which could have led to far worse consequences.
“We will not tolerate violence and aggression on the streets of Peterborough.”
