Man dies after car enters water ​near Chatteris

A man has died after the car he was driving entered the water at Forty Foot Bank near Chatteris yesterday (13 June).

Cambridgeshire Police say the car, a red Mercedes C220, entered the water at about 11.50am.

Emergency services attended and the road was closed while rescue efforts took place and the vehicle was recovered.

The 35-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone who witnessed what happened, or may have dashcam footage of the car before the incident, is being asked to contact police via Cambridgeshire Constabulary's website quoting incident 172 of 13 June.

Anyone without internet access should call 101 and ask to speak to a member of the Road Policing Unit.
