Man in critical condition after being hit by car in Cambridge

A woman also suffered minor injuries

A man in his 40s is in a critical condition after being hit by a car in Cambridge yesterday.

It involved a black Volkswagen Up and two pedestrians and happened in Huntingdon Road, close to the junction with Storey's Way, at about 9am yesterday (4/1).

Emergency services attended the scene and the road was closed.

One of the pedestrians, a man in his 40s, was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge, with serious injuries and remains there in a critical condition.

The second pedestrian, a woman in her 50s, suffered minor injuries and received treatment at the same hospital.

The driver, a 62-year-old woman from Cambridge, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless or inconsiderate driving. She has been released on bail until 4 April.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or has dashcam footage, is urged to contact police.
