Stephen Alderton, aged 67, has appeared at Peterborough Crown Court today (Thursday 11) charged with two counts of murder and one count of possession of a firearm.

The bodies of Gary Dunmore, aged 57, and Joshua Dunmore, aged 32, were discovered at their houses in The Row, Sutton and Meridian Close, Bluntisham, on March 29.

Alderton, of no fixed address, appeared wearing a grey polo shirt and was not asked to enter pleas.

Judge Mark Bishop agreed to a request by defence barrister Kat Shields for extra time, and Alderton is due back in court on June 28 to be asked to enter pleas.

The provisional trial date is from October 16.

Alderton spoke only to confirm his name during today's 30-minute hearing.

The family members of Gary and Joshua Dunmore watched as he was brought into the secure dock.

The judge told the defendant at the end of the hearing: “There will be a further hearing on June 28 which you will attend.

“Further directions will be given.”
