A man who attacked four people in Cambridge, leaving one with a fractured skull, has been jailed.

Jessie Slack got into an argument with two men in Market Passage at about 3.30am on 11th May.

He punched them both, before a member of the public intervened.

The 32-year-old, of no fixed address, then left the area but returned a short time later and attacked two other men.

One of the men was left unconscious. He was given first aid by nearby security staff.

Slack was identified by people at the scene and arrested at a property in Newmarket a few hours later.

He admitted assault causing grievous bodily harm without intent and three counts of assault by beating.

Yesterday (19 September) at Peterborough Crown Court he was jailed for two years.

DC Joanna Mackenzie said: “Slack seemed intent on violence as he attacked people without any provocation in these senseless attacks.

“The victim of the GBH suffered a fractured skull and a brain injury. Thankfully he has recovered but it has been a traumatic experience for him and his family.

“The injuries could have been even worse, with this incident bearing all the hallmarks of a one-punch killing. It is only by luck that this was not the case.”
