The independent charity, Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to £20, 000 for information that leads to the conviction of those responsible for the murder of Hamid ‘Mick’ Tawaab in Huntingdon earlier this year.
Hamid, who was known to many locally by his nickname Mick, was 59 years old when he was found unresponsive in his flat on the evening of Monday 20 January.
He sadly passed away shortly afterwards.
A post-mortem report later confirmed that Mick had died from blunt force trauma to his head, chest and abdomen. Police have since declared the case a murder investigation.
Detectives believe Mick was assaulted sometime between the morning of Sunday 19 January and the evening of Monday 20 January. During this timeframe, several people are known to have visited Mick’s flat, which was covered by CCTV.
Officers are urging anyone with knowledge of what happened to contact Crimestoppers anonymously. Information passed directly to the police will not qualify for a reward.
Annabelle Goodenough, South East Regional manager at the charity Crimestoppers said: “Hamid ‘Mick’ Tawaab was a much-loved man whose life was cruelly taken. His family and friends deserve answers and for those responsible to face justice.
"We know that in some communities’ people might be afraid or reluctant to speak to police, but Crimestoppers offers a completely independent and anonymous way to share what you know. No one will ever ask for your name or trace your call.”
