Murder charge after death of man in Cambridge

A man has been charged with murder, after the death of a man in Cambridge.

The 38-year-old was discovered in a serious condition following reports of violence at a property in Histon Road, at 11.39am on Tuesday (17th September).

He was treated by paramedics but was pronounced dead at 12.15pm.

The victim has not been formally identified. A post-mortem is scheduled to take place today.

Jonathon Austin, 23, of Histon Road in Cambridge, has been charged with murder and is due at Huntingdon Magistrates' Court today.

Detective Inspector Lee Martin said: "We believe this is an isolated incident, but additional patrols have been put in place since Tuesday to reassure local residents.

"Our thoughts are with the victim’s family – who are being supported by specially trained officers."
