Police are appealing for information following an attempted armed robbery in Fenstanton.

A man entered the Post Office in Rookery Place, armed with what appeared to be a handgun just before 9pm on Thursday (12 September).

The man pointed the weapon at the cashier behind the counter and then towards the till and signalled for her to empty it.

The victim- a woman in her 20s- managed to shut the till and run to the back of the premises. No items were taken.

Detective Sergeant James Rabbett, who is investigating, said: “This was an extremely frightening experience for the victim and I’m keen to hear from anyone who has information or dashcam or doorbell footage from the area between 8pm and 10pm yesterday evening.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police online www.cambs.police.uk or call 101 quoting reference 35/67373/24.
