Drink driver banned from driving for a year at Cambridge Magistrates Court
37 year-old Darren Grant was found to be almost twice over the legal limit.
A man has been banned from driving for a year after being found to be almost twice the legal alcohol limit in Witchford.
37 year old Darren Grant was found by police officers in his car on Common Road and was breathalysed as they suspected he had been drinking.
He blew 69 micrograms at the roadside, almost twice the legal limit of 35 micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath. Later in custody, he went on to provide an evidential sample of 40 micrograms.
A check on his vehicle showed that the vehicle was not ensured.
At Cambridge Magistrate Court on Monday, Grant, of Witcham Road, Mepal, was disqualified from driving for a year after previously pleading guilty to drink driving and driving without insurance. He was also fined £276.
PC James Cox, who investigated, said: “There is no excuse for drink driving and this case shows that while we can’t be everywhere, we could be anywhere so please don’t take any risks by getting behind the wheel after drinking.”
