Flood response 'not acceptable' in Cambridgeshire village
Frustration has grown amongst some villagers after the latest floods
There is frustration amongst some people in a Cambridgeshire village as it continues to battle through severe flooding.
Floodwater has entered some homes in parts of Brampton, including Hansell Road, following heavy rainfall.
It's led to sandbags being laid outside front doors to protect from any flood damage as water lays across the road surface and driveways.
Sheila and Gus have seen six floods since they moved into their current home on Hansell Road 20 years ago, but so far have not been flooded.
Floods are "not acceptable"
"We've bought a flood defence for the garage, that was worth a few hundred pounds," Sheila said.
"We've got 19 sandbags, so we've done as much as we can to protect the property."
When asked how the latest flooding makes them feel, Sheila said she's "reassured because we've never flooded", but her partner Gus thinks otherwise.
"It's not acceptable; it's abnormal," he said.
"You get fed up after a while and you feel authorities are doing nothing about it."
Kennedy and Marita have been living on Hansell Road for seven years - sandbags have been left outside their driveway with floodwater just a few metres away from their front door.
"It's very disappointing; you can see there are no cars in the driveway, we can't drive down the street, it's all blocked," Kennedy said.
"Water is getting close to the doors and I don't know what the council is doing (to help)."
Meanwhile, Marita said the flooding makes her "feel like moving; I wish I had money to move elsewhere.
"We wish the council could do something sooner than leaving it until it has a big impact on us."
A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire County Council said: “We are working with all our local partners, including Huntingdonshire District Council and South Cambridgeshire District Council, the Environment Agency, Anglian Water and Internal Drainage Board to support residents in the local communities as best as we can."
