Fordham homes evacuated overnight due to gas leak

Families had to leave their homes until 9am this morning

Some families living in Fordham in East Cambridgeshire have been evacuated overnight after a gas leak.

Gas emergency service, Cadent, were called to a report of a gas escape at 14:32 yesterday (Monday 25th) and were on site shortly afterwards.

Everyone in a 100 meter cordon was evacuated and unable to return until 9am today.

A 200 meter cordon was also in place but people within this were able to return yesterday.

Cadent says anyone who smells gas should immediately call the emergency gas service on 0800 111 999.
