Four fire crews were required to tackle a fire at a fish and chip shop in Littleport, Cambridgeshire.

The fire service was called to Main Street at around 8pm yesterday evening to reports of a blaze at a "building used as a take away restaurant".

They were on the scene for 3 hours, before it was put out.

No one is reported to have been injured in the incident.

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire fire service said, "At 8.07pm on Friday, four crews from Ely and Chatteris, along with crews from Downham Market and Outwell in Norfolk, were called to a fire on Main Street in Littleport.

"Wearing breathing apparatus, they extinguished the fire using hose reels and a jet.

"They cleared the smoke using a positive pressure ventilation fan and returned to their stations by 11.30pm.

"There are no reports of any injuries, while the cause of the fire was accidental."
